John FORREST was born on 12th Aug 1817 in St Andrews, Edinburgh and baptised 11th Sep 1817[1]. He was the only child of David FORREST and Helen KIDD

John was a clerk in the National Bank of Scotland.

Family

On 23rd March 1841 in St Cuthbert's, Edinburgh, John married, firstly, Jessie Bathgate WATSON[2]. They had issue:

i. David James FORREST, born on 4th April 1842 and baptised on 13th May 1842 at St Cuthbert's, Edinburgh[3]


On 3rd Jun 1851 in St Cuthbert's, Edinburgh, John married secondly, Elizabeth Broomfield DUNCAN[4]. They had issue:

ii. William Duncan FORREST, born on 16th April 1852 and baptised on 18th May 1842 at St Cuthbert's, Edinburgh[5]
iii. Sylvester Helen FORREST, born on 4th April 1853 and baptised on 27th June 1853 at St Cuthbert's, Edinburgh[6] but died 10 months later.[7][8].
iv. John FORREST, born on 18th January 1855[9] but died less than 18 months old on the 10th April 1856 after suffering for five weeks with bronchitis terminating with hydrocephalus (water on the brain)[7].

John died on 2nd July 1855 after suffering for 6 months with phthisis (tuberculosis)[8]
